カナダの冬到来！！

　本校IMコースでは2021年度4月より、カナダでの留学を再開しており、コロナ禍での留学に対するお問い合わせを多くいただいております。

　まだまだ、留学プログラムを再開している学校の少ない中、定期的にコロナ禍の留学について情報を発信させていただくことも本校の果たすべき役割であると考え、生徒に協力してもらいながら、『IMコース　留学体験記』を掲載しております。

　この様な状況下でも，海外で頑張っている生徒の様子を覗いていただけると嬉しいです。

　12月になり、日本でも本格的な寒波が到来する様になりましたが、留学先のカナダの冬は日本とは比較にならないほど厳しいものです。

　寒い日だとマイナス30度にもなるという、極寒のカナダ。これまでの季節の移ろいを含め、どんな生活を行っているのでしょう？

　Yさんがリポートしてくれました。

What differences of the climate between Canada and Japan do you think there are? Did you imagine that Canada has a lot of snow compared with Japan?

I have been in Canada since April. I found that there are many differences of the climate between Canada and Japan. In summer, it doesn’t get really hot like in Japan, which I think is good. In autumn, it doesn’t get cold that much, so you can wear a winter jacket, and especially in the morning and night, it gets colder. We had to be careful not to catch a cold because it’s getting colder and colder. In winter, it gets so much snow obviously, but it depends on the region of Canada.

What I found interesting is that the more it gets snow, the colder it gets. But it feels like -1~5. My host father told me that it gets cold the most in January and in February. I am excited a little since I have never experienced the temperature of minus 10 ~ 20.

I walk to school for 15 minutes every day. When I get to school, my legs and ears are freezing. Even though I wear winter shoes, my feet are also freezing. But people who prefer winter can enjoy the snow when they walk to school, which is not happening around Ritsumeikan Uji high school.

I am assuming that it is getting colder in Japan. Please don’t get sick and be aware of Covid.

　日本（特に京都）ではなかなか経験できない世界を経験しているYさん。体調管理には気をつけて欲しいものです。

　「カナダに行く前に日本で防寒具を用意した方が良いか？」非常によく聞かれる質問です。結論から言うと、カナダの防寒具を現地で調達することをおすすめしております。日本の防寒具は、カナダの厳しい冬の前では心許ないので・・・。

　クラブ活動なども、冬になると一変し、留学生の中には、カーリングやホッケー、クロスカントリースキーなどに挑戦する生徒も出てきます。

　気候が作り出す、文化の違いを感じるのも留学の醍醐味。厳しくも奥が深い、カナダの冬を前向きに乗り越えて欲しいものです。
