My research area

I have liked to read books since I was an elementary school student. I like detective and science fiction stories, but dislike horror and romance novels. What do you like to read? Why? I read books to enjoy the stories, not to study vocabulary and grammar. I often introduce my students to books that are not difficult and have interesting stories. This is called "Extensive Reading." There are many ways to improve your English, and I research the benefits of Extensive Reading.

Message to students

Everyone knows at least one language. You know Japanese, which you learned from your parents and your teachers in school. Japanese language skills are important because we live in Japan. You have also studied English. As you know, English language skills are becoming more important because of globalization. English has become the universal language for scientists and engineers. To become a scientist or engineer, you must know how to use both Japanese and English.
