The Saionji Memorial Scholarship Award Ceremony was held.

The Saionji Memorial Scholarship awarding ceremony for the fall semester of 2024 took place on the 17th of December, where the applicants with the best results were awarded scholarships.

Former Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mitoji Yabunaka, gave a special lecture entitled “Turbulent World and Japan”.

On November 28th, we held a special lecture by visiting professor Mitoji Yabunaka.
Prof. Yabunaka is an expert in Japanese diplomacy who has worked on numerous international negotiations since joining the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and served as the Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs in 2008. After retiring from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2010, he has been teaching at Ritsumeikan University's College of International Relations as a visiting professor.

The theme of the lecture is “Turbulent World and Japan—US Presidential Election, Middle East, and Asian Theater”.

The lecture was given in English, and many students from the College of International Relations and Graduate School of International Relations attended. It was a very valuable opportunity for students to hear directly from Prof. Yabunaka about the latest international affairs and the challenges facing Japanese diplomacy in the future.

In addition, before the lecture, a “Career Talk Session” was held in Japanese for students aiming to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or as a national public servant. In addition to students from the College of International Relations, many students from other faculties also participated, and they were able to receive valuable advice from Prof. Yabunaka on becoming a Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs or national civil servant.

On the 7 of November, the Zemi Research Convention was held.

On the 7 of November, the Zemi Research Convention was held.The convention is a presentation style competition for teams of third-year students and above enrolled in Advanced Seminar.Every year we invite guests from companies and alumni from across the globe to visit and interact with current students.

Many guests, faculty, graduates, students from affiliated high school and current students gathered on the day.They attentively observed each presentation and abundant thought-provoking Q&A’s were exchanged.
The presentation participants were able to gather many valuable feedbacks from audiences.
 We will be using the data to enrich students' graduation thesis and future studies and improve future conventions held by our faculty.
