I studied abroad in Canada and Combodia in my 20s. The experiences of living in two societies, one so-called developed and the other developing, have saped who I am today. In particular, they have enhaced my touhness, resilience, and comparative perspectives. Firstly, I am generally not afraid of taking risks by stepping outside my comfort zone and to overcome phycological fear. I learnt to enjoy the process of making mistakes and growing in the process (toughness). Secondly, I became better at adaptig to inconveniences, uncomfortableness, or adversitied (reslience). Thirdly, I can be very critical about Japanese society (comparative perspective). I completed my MA and PhD in the UK and lived in Singapore when I was young. Students are more than welcome to come by at BBP to discuss plans and concerns about studying abroad.
